What the system actually computes.
Twelve services drawn from four lineages — Chinese, Vedic, Tibetan and Western. Each keeps its own rules, its own calendar and its own vocabulary. KalaKarma runs them side by side from the same astronomical moment; it never merges them into a single answer.

Three steps, and the astronomy is checkable.
The positions a chart is built on are ordinary astronomy: they can be compared against any ephemeris and they will agree. What each tradition then makes of those positions is the tradition's own, and we say which one is speaking.

Fix the moment
A date, a clock time and a place. The system resolves the coordinates and the time-zone offset that was actually in force on that date, then converts to the uniform time scale the ephemeris uses.

Compute the sky
Planetary and lunar positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris, compiled to WebAssembly and run locally in your browser. One set of numbers feeds every tradition on the page.

Apply each tradition's rules
Each system turns those positions into its own chart with its own rules — sidereal or tropical, solar-term or lunisolar. The results sit next to each other; they are never averaged into one verdict.

The research side of KalaKarma is a separate site with its own account approval. Work is published with the date it was written and the data it used, including the studies that did not go anywhere.

What KalaKarma is — and what it is not.
These traditions are thousands of years of careful observation and careful reading. Treating them honestly means being exact about what a computer can do with them, and blunt about what it cannot.
KalaKarma is
- A chart caster whose astronomy is accurate and can be checked against any ephemeris
- A perpetual calendar and almanac you can look a date up in, in three calendar systems
- A way to see how several traditions each describe the same moment, side by side
- A study tool that names which tradition every statement comes from
KalaKarma is not
- A predictor of events, outcomes, markets or prices
- Medical, legal, financial or psychological advice
- A single verdict blended together out of several traditions
- A substitute for your own judgement, or for a qualified professional
